What is your school term? Our term begins the middle of August and ends the year with the Young People’s Dance Concert the month of June.
What is the recital? Our recital is called The Annual Young People’s Dance Concert. This performance is all of our students in a showcase performing and sharing their talents with their family and friends. This is only a tiny part of the Dance Theatre program but a great sampling of our dance education of what they have learned throughout the year. It is not mandatory but highly recommended for all students and we encourage everyone to come and support the local dancers!
Do we offer Summer Camps? Our studio offers a one week summer dance camp the week following our concerts with morning classes from 9:00-12:00. Camp cost is $100.00 per dancer with fees covering all classes, daily snacks as well as crafts. Each day we study a different style of dance and we have costume days to portray styles of dancers and characters. Dance Camp is a BLAST and enjoyed by ages 4-12. This summer: Don’t Miss The FUN !
Should I put my child in a summer session? Our most popular courses are the short four-week sessions. This allows dancers to “get their feet wet” and see if dance is something they really enjoy doing. We also offer a variety of dance classes that meet twice a week.
What performances are available to my child? We offer a Young People’s Dance Concert to entertain family and freinds. Bluefield Dance Theatre summer students also perform the traditional Chrismtmas ballet ” The Nutcracker Suite,” each December. This production does involve many extra rehearsals. Seperate costumes are ordered for this concert and additonal fees are charged for this production. As one dancer stated : “Being a dancer in “The Nutcracker,” completes my Christmas.” “Our Christmas present to Bluefield is “The Nutcracker.”
When do schedules normally come out? Our Fall term schedules are mailed out by August 1st and our summer term is scheduled the week after our June concerts. If schedules need to be adjusted we will do our best to accommodate each and every student. We try to schedule siblings on the same days to save you traveling time.
